Today’s journey was a rather short one. While the weather gods still confuse May with late autumn, we took the channel from Amsterdam to the sea. This is our regular route to the North Sea which leads along Amsterdam central station, the port of Amsterdam and the accompanying Damen ship repair docks to the impressive sea locks of IJmuiden.
The marina in IJmuiden however is still in hibernation mode. Only the kite surfers seem to enjoy the beach, everything else is either closed for the day or for good. On the other side of the channel the city of Mordor – Tata‘s Steel Plant is watching. Together with the old fort and its bunkers but also the industrial port, it remains an odd scenery.
Fun fact of the day? Simba has stopped developing his summer fur. He definitely hates the cold and is very cuddly with us awaiting warmer weather!
