Welcome to the Atlantic Ocean!!
Probably every sailor on this route is familiar with Camaret sur Mer. Due to its location it’s a perfect stop for boats travelling through the English Channel from Roscoff to Lorient, and all sorts of boats meet here again. This gives it a somewhat special atmosphere and vibe: everyone we talked to along the route remembers the tower or the ship wrecks of the old sardines fishing vessels which helped the town to its former glory. The tower on the contrary was built to fend off British and Dutch vessels during the Nine Year’s War (Pfälzischer Erbfolgekrieg).
Camaret was again another first: not only did we successfully sail through the English Channel, but for the first time it was really really warm. We had an excellent dinner, and left this sailors melting pot already after one night ready to explore southern Brittany and its charming islands.
