Second day in Cadzand. We are starting to settle in the sailing and SUMMER life. Shorts, sun and Rosé at the beach. This caused quite a change of feeling. The Cadzand Marina is insofar special as it is directly situated at the beach. Connected to a former Michelin star restaurant one could expect it to be a little posh, but the harbour master and people are really friendly and welcoming.
Additionally, due to lots of visitors from Belgium and the bourgondic influence from the region, life starts to travel at a different pace.
Next to Rosé, a dinner on the beach, we both went running and practised yoga on the beach while being surprised by the flood. However, that invited us to waving off the sweat and sand directly in the waves. We also met Nicole and Oliver who were interested in Simba and his life on the boat, and who shared a few tips for navigating the currents with us. Thank you for the nice evening!
Also a shout out to KNRM Cadzand who enabled us on their visitors day to drive in one of the SAR boats. Very cool! Keep up the good work!
Another surprise was the parcel awaiting us here. The infamous „AeroPress brudies“ had sent us a manual coffee grinder to make sure that we are not switching to Nescafé along the way. Thank you Malte and Mathias!
At last, we heard a weird noise this morning: a post pigeon was fighting against the salt water and nearly drowning. We picked it up with help from Oliver and Nicole and called the Animal Rescue who came by and fetched it half an hour later. After that Lisa did some voluntary work and distributed their flyers to a beach cafe and the marina. 🤣
After so many good deeds it’s time to leave tomorrow to Nieuwpoort, our last and only stop in Belgium 🇧🇪. We did some grocery shopping and will prepare for leaving early tomorrow again.
Love, Lisa and André
