Step 21: Île de Batz … a visit with another boat

Beautiful Île de Batz
We did the sensible thing recommended by the British pilot book and took another boat to the island rather than our own. Once the ferry had landed, we made our way into the beautiful little island village.

This island has favourable weather except for some storms and is home to an exceptional flora and fauna which has been imported by the seafarers, sometimes on purpose and sometimes as a product of pure coincidence.

Although very touristic in one way, some houses seem to come from a different age and little cobble stone paths running along the coast make it a perfect day / hiking trip.

We were lucky to find that a craft beer and wine festival was on, where we charged up our own batteries, just before taking a hike around the island. We also visited a beautiful jardin botanique which had been started by a private philanthropist just before second world war, and nicely redesigned by an association.

Some odd 16km later we took one of the last ferries home, before walking another 2km to our boat. As a consequence, André already fell asleep during the Tagesschau and we both went to bed early.
